These London legends ignited the UK garage rock revival in the early 2000s with raucous anthems like ‘What A Waster’, ‘Can’t Stand Me Now’ and ‘What Became Of The Likely Lads’. After two critically-acclaimed albums, the band went into hiatus, with co-frontman Pete Doherty founding the equally-lauded Babyshambles while co-writing partner Carl Barât started Dirty Pretty Things.

Incredibly, a decade later, The Libertines reunited to release their third record, Anthems for Doomed Youth. The wait proved worth it, with critics climbing over each other to heap praise. Uncut dubbed it “a career peak” while Pitchfork called it “rich with mood and gorgeous melodies”.

With the volatile nucleus of Doherty and Barat firing once again, it’s now Australia’s turn to see the sparks fly.
